Fixing problems

The section scrolls straight past instead of holding still

The most common problem of all, and the single setting that usually fixes it.

The stacking and horizontal effects hold your section still while you scroll through its slides. When that hold doesn't happen, the section slides away and often leaves a screenful of empty space behind it.

The usual cause and the usual fix

Something wrapped around your section is preventing it from staying put — this is by far the most common problem, and it is almost always your theme or page builder rather than anything you did.

Switch on Fix pinning ancestors on the outer section. It finds what is interfering and corrects it for you. This is the fix in the large majority of cases.

If it still slides away

  • Check the nesting. The Viewport must sit inside the Recipe host, with the Panels inside the Viewport. A missing Viewport is the second most common cause.
  • Look at what is wrapped around the section. Some themes place every page inside a container of their own. If your theme offers a full-width or canvas page template, try the section on a page using it — if it holds there, the theme's wrapper is the culprit.
  • Try it on a blank page. A new page with nothing on it but this one section tells you in under a minute whether the problem is the section or its surroundings.

If a blank page works and your real page doesn't, send us the real page's URL at support@innovatewebdevelopment.com — that comparison tells us most of what we need.
