Getting started

Keeping the plugin up to date

Where updates come from, why an update notice might not appear, and what happens to updates when a licence lapses.

Updates arrive in your WordPress dashboard the same way every other plugin's do — under Dashboard → Updates and on the Plugins screen. Click update and you are done.

If no update notice appears

  • Check your licence is active under Scroll Studio → Settings → Licence. Pro checks in with our update service using your key; without an active key there is nothing to check in with.
  • Give it a few hours. WordPress caches update information rather than asking on every page load, so a release can take a little time to show up. Visiting Dashboard → Updates asks it to look again.
  • Confirm which edition is running. The free version updates from WordPress.org; Pro updates from us. Only one of the two should be active.

Updating by hand

Your licence page — and the download link in your licence email — always serves the current version, so you can fetch it any time and upload the file under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. WordPress will offer to replace the existing copy. Your settings, licence and every recipe already on your pages are stored separately from the plugin file and are unaffected.

If your licence lapses, everything already on your site keeps working exactly as it is — your animations do not stop. You stop receiving new versions and new templates until you renew.
